On March 19, 2018, China Society of Automotive Engineers (CSAE), China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) and China Industry Innovation Alliance for the Intelligent & Connected Vehicles (CAICV) jointly initiated the establishment of China Intelligent & Connected Vehicles (Beijing) Research Institute Co., Ltd. (CICV). All 23 shareholders are leading industry players and research institutes in the fields of automobile manufacturing, auto parts, information and communication, and etc.
In May 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially approved the establishment of the National Innovation Center of Intelligent & Connected Vehicles by CICV.
As a national innovation center, CICV is committed to building a national think tank for innovative strategies, breaking through critical universal technologies, establishing a robust service platform, and creating an innovation ecosystem. We aim to cultivate professional talents, continuously lead industry development, establish advanced infrastructure for intelligent vehicles, and eventually contribute to the sustainable and collaborative development of the global automotive industry.

In order to promote the development of China's intelligent and connected vehicle industry and technology, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China Society of Automotive Engineers and China Association of Automobile Manufacturers established the "China Industry Innovation Alliance for the Intelligent and Connected Vehicles" (CAICV). MIIT serves as the guiding unit of the alliance, and Minister Miao Wei and Vice Minister Xin Guobin respectively serve as the director and deputy director of the steering committee of the alliance.
CAICV is a consortium voluntarily formed by domestic enterprises, universities, research institutions and industry organizations, including hundreds of cross-industry members from the fields of automobile, transportation and ICT. In accordance with the agreed working mechanism, CAICV carries out policy and strategy research, R&D of critical universal technologies, standards and regulations development, testing and demonstration, industrialization promotion, academic exchange and international cooperation, talent training and many other works. It has become an important platform for promoting the development of the intelligent and connected vehicle industry in China.
